About the Yatra

A journey crafted with reverence

The 12 Jyotirlingas represent the most sacred manifestations of Lord Shiva across the Indian subcontinent. To visit all twelve in a single journey is considered a life-altering spiritual achievement. Our 22-day Grand Circuit is a carefully orchestrated pilgrimage that spans the length and breadth of India—from the western shores of Somnath to the southern tip of Rameshwaram, from the spiritual heart of Kashi to the mountainous heights of Kedarnath (via special arrangement). This journey is designed for the serious seeker, offering not just travel but a deep dive into the legends and spiritual significance of each shrine. We include inter-region flights to ensure comfort and minimize travel time, allowing more space for devotion and reflection. Scholar-led discourses at key locations provide historical and philosophical context, while our logistical team manages every aspect of priority darshan and ritual participation. This is a journey through the soul of India, tracing the divine light of Shiva.

Itinerary

Day1

Mumbai → Somnath

The grand circuit begins. We fly to Rajkot and drive to Somnath, the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Somnath, "The Eternal Shrine," has been destroyed and rebuilt many times, standing as a symbol of the resilience of faith. We attend the evening sound and light show and the majestic aarti at the temple by the Arabian Sea.

Day2

Somnath → Nageshwar → Dwarka

We drive to Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, where the deity is believed to protect from all poisons. After darshan, we continue to the holy city of Dwarka, the kingdom of Lord Krishna. Visit the Dwarkadhish temple and witness the change of the flag, a ceremony of great devotion.

Day3

Dwarka → Ahmedabad → Ujjain

A travel day where we fly from Ahmedabad to Indore and drive to the ancient city of Ujjain, located on the banks of the Shipra river. Ujjain is one of the seven sacred cities of India and home to the powerful Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga.

Day4

Mahakaleshwar Darshan

Experience the world-famous "Bhasma Aarti" at Mahakaleshwar, a unique ritual performed with sacred ash. Later, we drive to Omkareshwar, located on an island shaped like the "Om" symbol in the Narmada River, for darshan of the second Jyotirlinga of Madhya Pradesh.

Day5

Omkareshwar → Indore → Varanasi

We fly to Varanasi, the spiritual capital of India. In the evening, we witness the grand Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat from a private boat, a spectacle of light, music, and deep devotion that captures the essence of the holy city.

Day6

Kashi Vishwanath

A dawn darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath temple, the "Golden Temple." This is followed by a scholar-led discourse on the history of Kashi and its significance as the city of liberation. We also visit the Kal Bhairav temple and explore the narrow, vibrant lanes of the old city.

Day7

Varanasi → Deoghar

We travel to Deoghar in Jharkhand, home to the Baidyanath Jyotirlinga. This shrine is unique as it is both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth. The atmosphere here is one of intense personal devotion and healing.

Day8

Baidyanath Darshan

A full morning dedicated to prayers and rituals at the Baidyanath temple. The rest of the day is for quiet reflection and rest, allowing the spiritual experiences of the first week to integrate.

Day9

Deoghar → Pune

A travel day as we fly across to Western India, landing in Pune. This is our base for exploring the Jyotirlingas of Maharashtra.

Day10

Bhimashankar Darshan

A scenic day trip through the Western Ghats to the Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga, located in a lush forest reserve. The temple architecture is a beautiful example of the Nagara style. We return to Pune in the evening.

Day11

Pune → Nashik

A drive takes us to Nashik, another ancient holy city on the banks of the Godavari. We visit Panchavati, where Lord Rama is believed to have stayed during his exile, and prepare for the darshan at Trimbakeshwar.

Day12

Trimbakeshwar Darshan

Morning darshan at Trimbakeshwar, where the Godavari river originates. This Jyotirlinga is unique as it represents the Trinity: Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. The intricate stone carvings and the powerful vibrations of the shrine are deeply moving.

Day13

Nashik → Aurangabad

We drive to Aurangabad, our base for the final Jyotirlinga of Maharashtra, Grishneshwar. The drive takes us through the historic heart of the Deccan plateau.

Day14

Grishneshwar Darshan

Visit the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, the last of the 12. The temple was restored by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar and is a masterpiece of red basalt stone. Later, we visit the nearby Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site representing the pinnacle of rock-cut architecture.

Day15

Aurangabad → Hyderabad → Srisailam

We fly to Hyderabad and drive into the Nallamala Hills to reach Srisailam. The shrine of Mallikarjuna is situated on a hill overlooking the Krishna River and is one of the most beautiful and spiritually potent locations in the circuit.

Day16

Mallikarjuna Darshan

A full day at Srisailam. In addition to the Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga, we visit the Bhramaramba Devi temple, making this a rare confluence of a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth. The evening is spent in meditation by the river.

Day17

Srisailam → Hyderabad → Rameshwaram

A long travel day as we fly from Hyderabad to Madurai and drive to the island of Rameshwaram. This is the southern-most Jyotirlinga, established by Lord Rama himself.

Day18

Ramanathaswamy Darshan

Experience the unique ritual of bathing in the 22 holy wells (Theerthams) within the temple complex before the main darshan. The corridors of the Rameshwaram temple are the longest in the world and a marvel of Dravidian architecture.

Day19

Rameshwaram → Madurai → Bengaluru

We drive back to Madurai, visit the magnificent Meenakshi Amman temple, and then fly to Bengaluru for the final leg of the journey.

Day20

Bengaluru → Mangalore → Murudeshwar

A travel day through the scenic coastal belt of Karnataka. We visit the massive Shiva statue at Murudeshwar, overlooking the sea, a modern tribute to the ancient deity.
